How to Find Your Microphone Hardware ID & Install Drivers on Windows 11 / 10

When a microphone appears as “Unknown Device” or “High Definition Audio Device” in Windows, searching by its exact Hardware ID guarantees 100% driver compatibility:

  1. Open Device Manager: Right-click the Windows Start button and select Device Manager, then expand Audio inputs and outputs or Sound, video and game controllers.
  2. Locate Your Hardware ID: Right-click your microphone or audio controller, choose Properties → Details tab, and select Hardware Ids from the Property drop-down.
  3. Copy & Search: Copy the top string (for example, HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC for Realtek, HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_14F1 for Conexant, or USB\VID_046D&PID_0825 for Logitech) and paste it into the Driver Finder sidebar on this page.
